I took these photographs in the Museum of the Arctic and Antarctica, Saint Petersburg, a place I have returned to again and again, fascinated by the building, its history and symbolism, and its staging of Soviet Arctic exploration, Arctic science and indigenous communities. The Museum also appears in my film Hero City. And I have written about the history of the museum in the book, Ice Humanities.
