The Department of Eagles folio is a series of images made from video stills from my films made by and of birds of prey. The still image is a stolen instant that was never seen and is now a space of fractured time. The birds are all imprinted with human touch, sight, lives, and the camera. A human handler directs the bird, coaxing, cajoling, luring with food. The bird cooperates or not. The folio itself becomes a kind of new hand-made film, a slow analogue revisiting of the instants and space that make up the frame.
